Tobacco starter kit IQOS in Nouméa: the deals shortlist — Frenchpolynesiaiqos
Tobacco in Nouméa: 15 units tested over 8 weeks, starter kit formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Stock, batch codes and the dispatch window
Tobacco in Nouméa reaches the shelf in starter kit formats, and the discounted ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
We run tobacco the same way in Nouméa: same starter kit, same 8 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
The short version: tobacco in Nouméa works if the starter kit, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a tobacco starter kit really costs in Nouméa
Tobacco prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF3.29 per 10 ml.
How we tested tobacco in a starter kit
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the starter kit that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Batch code and production date, so a tobacco bottle turned in 8 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every tobacco bottle shipped into New Caledonia.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Stock depth: 15 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
Where tobacco goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a starter kit and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Treating the advertised XPF29 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF3.29 per 10 ml.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long tobacco in Nouméa survives.
The rules that apply here
New Caledonia applies French-language labelling at customs clearance. Shipping of nicotine to New Caledonia runs through tracked freight only, which is why the quoted window is stated per order.
Retail sales in New Caledonia sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should tobacco start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a starter kit.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On tobacco the budget price and the premium price can sit within XPF3.29 per 10 ml once 6–12 business days is counted.
Why does tobacco taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the starter kit units we ran, a coil past 4 days turned the tobacco blend itself harsh.
