Sour prefilled pod IQOS in Nouméa: the compare shortlist — Frenchpolynesiaiqos
Sour in Nouméa: 14 units tested over 5 weeks, prefilled pod formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Coil life, liquid cost and the sour habit
We run sour the same way in Nouméa: same prefilled pod, same 5 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the prefilled pod you buy decides how long sour tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a sour prefilled pod really costs in Nouméa
Sour in a prefilled pod is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Nouméa the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested sour in a prefilled pod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the prefilled pod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every sour bottle shipped into New Caledonia.
- Returns window and who pays return postage when a prefilled pod arrives sealed but wrong.
- Coil type inside the prefilled pod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
Where sour goes wrong
- Treating the advertised XPF47 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF2.63 per 10 ml.
- Buying the cheapest prefilled pod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Chasing a discount on a prefilled pod that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in New Caledonia sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for sour in New Caledonia must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a prefilled pod.
How much does a prefilled pod cost per 10 ml?
On the last run in Nouméa: about XPF2.63 per 10 ml liquid plus XPF47 for the entry kit, before any bulk discount.
Why does sour taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the prefilled pod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the sour blend itself harsh.
