Salted cartomizer IQOS in Nouméa: the online shortlist — Frenchpolynesiaiqos
Salted in Nouméa: 6 units tested over 6 weeks, cartomizer formats, priced per 10 ml for New Caledonia.
Choosing a cartomizer for salted
Salted prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF2.17 per 10 ml.
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Caledonia. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
If you only read one line: the cartomizer you buy decides how long salted tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a salted cartomizer really costs in Nouméa
Salted in a cartomizer is not the same product you see in a catalogue photo, and the price per 10 ml is where the gap shows. In Nouméa the liquid, the coil and the power setting all have to agree before the flavour actually lands.
How we tested salted in a cartomizer
- Pick the cartomizer that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Coil type inside the cartomizer, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Batch code and production date, so a salted bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
- Stock depth: 6 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where salted goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why salted tastes flat after two days.
- Mixing salted with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Buying the cheapest cartomizer available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in New Caledonia sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to New Caledonia need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.
